BREWERY TOUR AND KOZEL GIFT SHOP
Come and see the Velké Popovice brewery for yourselves. Take a peek under the Velké Popovice brewmasters' lid during the production of Velkopopovický Kozel beer. Take a tour of the brewery, which includes beer tasting in the original brewhouse from 1928.
Awaiting you are our brand new barrier-free Visitors' Center along with the Kozel gift shop, offering a variety of souvenirs for Kozel beer lovers; a brewery tour extended by a new exhibition of the production process and a non-traditional presentation of the brewery' history. The extended exhibition will help you get acquainted with the history and the current life of the famous brewery and get familiar with the process of brewing Velkopopovický Kozel beer. The living mascot of the brewery, a billy goat called Olda, is part of the brewery tour.
What the brewery looks like
First visit the new barrier-free Visitors' Center, where guided tours of the brewery start. Following a short video presentation, visitors will proceed to a unique exhibition of the brewing process situated in the charismatic original brewhouse.
Kozel Gift Shop
Please come visit the Kozel gift shop, with its wide range of presents for those who love our beer. You can get all kinds of souvenirs, from beautiful beer mugs, shirts and T-shirts, a book about the Velké Popovice legend, a set of tools, a bowie knife to a practical backpack.
History of the Brewery
The first mention of the small Czech town of Velké Popovice, situated not far from Prague, dates back to the fourteenth century. The first reference to the Popovice brewery comes from the mid-sixteenth century, when the brewery was owned by the Hysrl family from the Chod people, and even the first references speak of an excellent beer.
