Brewery Tour Route (90 min):

  • Visitors' Center, brewery courtyard
  • Brewhouse No. 3 – tasting of Velkopopovický Kozel, history of the brewery, raw materials, short introductory film
  • New brewhouse – the role and family of the brewery's founder, Baron Ringhoffer; the development of the brewery and the Velkopopovický Kozel brand
  •  Lager cellar, bottle and keg packaging line
  • The living mascot of the brewery – billy goat Olda
  •  Kozel gift shop inside the Visitors' Center

First visit the new barrier-free Visitors' Center, where guided tours of the brewery start.

Following a short video presentation, visitors will proceed to a unique exhibition of the brewing process, which is situated in the charismatic historical brewhouse. Thanks to the interactive exhibition, you will literally "peek under the lid" of the Velkopopovický Kozel brewing process and see the raw materials it is brewed from. You will also learn what the difference between pale and dark beer is, and visit the current brewhouse.

In the next part of the tour, you will learn about the rich history of the brewery and the role and family of the brewery's founder, Baron František Ringhoffer. The key stages in the development of the brewery and the Velkopopovický Kozel brand are presented in a non-traditional and interactive way. Due attention is devoted to the story of Baron Ringhoffer's family business, which significantly formed and changed not only the face of the brewery, but also the entire region.

The brewery tour then continues to the cellars, where beer ferments and matures, then the bottle and keg packaging hall with fully automated lines. The tour will further take you back to the Visitors' Center, where you will find the Kozel gift shop. Here visitors can buy all sorts of presents for themselves and their loved ones.

The brewery tour also includes tasting of Velkopopovický Kozel beer, which is available for visitors from the age of 18, and you cannot miss out on the brewery's living mascot – billy goat Olda.

Excursions for schools and student groups.

As a responsible beer marker, Plzeňský Prazdroj offers two types of brewery tours in Pilsen for visitors younger than 18 years old.

  • The excursion Brewing - a successful Czech industry (the excursion does not include a visit to the production facility or the beer-tasting portion)
  • The classig tour of the Velke Popovice Brewery with a presentation of the production process and a visit to all production facilities. During the course of the classic tour of the Velke Popovice Brewery, we will not serve any beer for tasting to a school group where even one student is younger than 18 years.

The Tour Brewing - a successful Czech industry is primary meant for minors visutiny the brewery, whereby they become acquainted with the wider aspects of brewing as a famous part of Czech industry nad the role Plzeňský Prazdroj has played in the history of brewing.

Plzeňský Prazdroj is the leading beer producer in Central Europe and therefore sets an example in terms of responsibility. We understand the fears of the general public with regards to the consumption of alcohol by minors and that is why our marketing is focused on people over 18 years old. This responsible  approach is also reflected in our brewery tours. In view of the fact that the responsibility for a group of minors ultimately lies with the teacher or chaperone, it tis up to them decide witch tour to take.
